The new development here at The Feather Gallery is that of the Podcast! Miles has put together the first ever Late Night Art Show podcast.
You can see all the podcasts so far here. We will put a full time link to those on the main page soon.
For those who are unaware of what a Podcast is, here’s a little rundown.
Firstly, they’re not as fancy as they sound. The name comes from those ubiquitous iPods MP3 players. Mp3’s are your typical sound or music computer file, and iPods and all other MP3 players, play the files so you can here them on the road at the gym or where ever. You can also listen to the MP3’s on your computer, which would be best for the Late Night Art Show?but we?ll get to that in a minute.
This is all old news I’m sure, however, it gets us to what a Podcast is. It’s just a MP3 file! Usually they are free to download and play. They?re structured more like a radio show, but not as formal for the most part. Some can be just a few minutes long, some can be an hour long or more. Many are educational, funny, informative or dramatic.
So what?s the point? Well you could just listen to the radio, but you have to be there at the right time. With a podcast you listen when you want. The good bit is, that once you subscribe to a podcast using a podcast subscription program (you will have to install that if you want to use this feature), your computer will be told when new episodes of your favourite podcast are ready to download and download them automatically for you, ready to listen to the next time you sit in front of the computer or connect your mp3 player up.
Getting back to the Late Night Art Show, it?s a podcast where you can here the artist currently exhibiting at The Feather Gallery talk about their own art. Each podcast will feature the artist talking about at least 3 of their paintings currently on display and for auction in the gallery. You can listen to the podcast and look at the gallery at the same time, seeing the artworks as you hear about them. That is why it would be best to listen to this podcast in front of the computer.
As usual, we would love to hear feedback about this feature. So if you have any comments just drop us a line.
Now go on and have a listen. We hope you enjoy hearing about the art.
